Students taking O’Levels English Literature exam this year will be the first batch (after a long hiatus) to take the drama exam on R & J.

Literature O’Levels Syllabus for 2024, Paper 2: Drama
The text is one of the five text for Paper 2 (1 hr 30mins) and it will account for 50% of the entire paper.
Breakdown of Paper: One passage-based question (compulsory) and two essay questions will be set. Candidates are to choose one essay question.

What kind of questions will tested? How do I revise for my O’Levels or iGCSE literature exam?
For a start, ask yourself some fundamental questions similar to the list below. In this blog, we will look at some key areas/questions to examine:
- How does Shakespeare open the play in Act 1?
- What is the way in which Shakespeare opens the play and how does that establishes key ideas and context?
- How does Shakespeare presents the characters?
- What is the social, cultural and historical setting of the play? How are the elizabethan people different from you and I living in this modern world?
- Pay attention to the use of language, form and structure that Shakespeare has carefully crafted, this will be particularly useful for answering Passage Based Question
If you are revising on your own for O’levels Literature, you need to make sure you prepare at least three months in advance, it takes time to go through each character (major or minor) and the themes.
